VYCC Receives Accreditation for Excellence and VYCC Corps Member Bex Love Honored As Corps Member of the Year
The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) received top honors at the national Corps Network conference in February as a newly Accredited Corps and for having a Corps Member of the year in Bex Love.

With support from the Northeast Kingdom Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation, the Windham Foundation, and the Oakland Foundation, Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) employed five youth from the Newport area to work on VYCC’s Health Care Share project this summer.

The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) campus buzzed with action last week. Corps Members wrapped up a summer of farming and two-weeks of campus improvement projects to prevent erosion and increase accessibility. Having a subset of Corps Members on campus presented The Corps Network (TCN) board of directors a unique opportunity to see VYCC programming in person, and to recognize VYCC for its leadership and innovation within the national corps movement.

Press Release: VYCC and the State of Vermont Put Clean Water Funds and Youth to Work
During the 2018 field season, supported by funding from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) youth and young adult crews completed 27 weeks of work to directly address erosion and nutrient pollution in surface water across the state. These issues directly contribute to the deteriorating health of Vermont’s rivers, ponds, and lakes and are what the state’s Clean Water Act was created to address.
